This is a subtle and syrupy Straight Bourbon from Ragged Branch with a really interesting twist: it is aged in barrels that once held Virginia Wine. The wine came from one of Virginia‘s best vineyards, Veritas in Alton. The nose of this wonderful Bourbon offers fruitiness of stewed fruit along with caramel sweentess. The palate is smooth chocolate, with even more fruit, in the form of apricot and raison. The finish has its notes of fruit with prunes, but adds a kind of leafy note with spicey rucola and notes of grass. It is a fresh and fruity bourbon, rigorously smooth as all Ragged Branch whiskey‘s are. This is a great success and showcases the incredibly commitment to quality of this distiller, and of spirits producers from the state of Virginia.
