This straight bourbon is made exclusively with grain grown in Oregon, corn of course, to which wheat and interestingly a pale ale malt are added. The malt gives this bourbon a dark and dense flavor, on which sugar cubes (the smell you get when you open up a bowl of sugar cubes), caramel, jelly bean, molasses, and bitter chocolate notes float. Vegetal notes come in the form of bell pepper, and there is a lightly charred feel as well. It is aged 4 years in new American oak casks. Stone Barn Brandyworks is one of the most important craft distillers on Portland‘s famous „Distillers Row“. This is a very interesting bourbon, with a wide rage of flavors and a significant finish, all with a relatively high alcohol content. Highly recommended.
