Port City Brewing from Alexandria, Virginia is one of the most innovative and successful craft breweries on the East Coast. Every year they join with Catoctin Creek to produce a malt whiskey from one of their speical mash bills. This year Port City celebrates its 10th anniversary with thier „Colossal X“ American Barley Wine brew. This distilled version captures the heart and soul of this rich English-style ale. The bottles are extremely limited, with only 600 bottles produced. We have a small stock that Catoctin sent us, the only ones in Europe. The Ale is full-bodied with a wide range of flavours, that are transformed in the distillation process to a wonderful, hops-flavored malt whiskey. The nose features cereals like hops, as well as essential pine and ice cream. The Palate is tangy with cinnamon, Red Hots, and a note of Sichuan pepper. This delightful malt whiskey finishes with vanilla bean and the taste of All-American Dr. Pepper soda. What a journey ! Every year we get our allotment of Catoctin‘s special productions.
